Workshop and Production Manager

Job Function:

You will be responsible for managing a team of staff, workshop activities, workshop equipment and tooling. You will be Responsible for all production/manufacturing activities both in house and outside the offices, You will be responsible for  both current and new products ensuring that all appropriate customer requirements, company standards, and HSE considerations are applied and adhered to. You will ensure products are manufactured in an economical and timely manner; ensuring company quality standards are met.


Main duties & responsibilities:

Your core responsibilities include:

Staff management.

  • Manage the day to day activities of your staff in line with company policies, procedures and company handbook.
  • Lead and motivate your team ensuring the business and contract needs are met.
  • Organise & provide training and support where required.
  • Set individual and team performance objectives.
  • Monitor and record staff performance and time keeping.

Production management.

  • Coordinate Production activities working closely with other department managers ensuring the deliverables are met.
  • Prepare production documentation for individual orders (batches) based on Master Product documents, liaise with Engineering and R&D departments, and issue them for production
  • Oversee the production process through to Test and Despatch
  • Monitoring and record production labour costs.
  • Manage and keep records of production and contract activities. Via paper and electronic means, including Sage software.
  • Be the custodian of production procedures inclusive of authoring and revision of procedures where necessary
  • Participation in Health, Safety & Environmental issues
  • Ensure staff adhere to all PPE requirements.
  • Participate in assembly and test where required.
  • Provide production reports as required
  • Investigate and establish new ways of working including new staff participation, new processes and tools.
  • Carry out time and motion studies

Workshop facility management.

  • Maintain the workshop in a tidy organised manner at all times.
  • Adhere to QHSE requirements at all times.
  • Manage  all workshop activities including those undertaken by other departments within the business
  • Manage and control workshop access
  • Manage workshop budgets
  • Work closely with the quality manager , ensuring inspections and  conformance is maintained
  • Manage and maintain all workshop tools and equipment in a tidy controlled manner. Maintain all records
  • Participate in company conformance checks

Coded Pipe Welder

Oil & Gas Systems is seeking an experienced, time served Pipe Welder to join their production team in Gorseinon. The successful applicant will be required for a period from 18th November 2020 for approximately 6 to 8 months. 

Minimum Candidate Requirements

As a minimum, candidates should have qualifications and previous experience of working within a manufacturing/engineering environment.

Preferred Candidate Requirements

  • Fully skilled in the field of Pipe Welding
  • Ability to work with Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Duplex Stainless Steel
  • Experience of working with a variety of sizes and schedules from small bore – ½” NB to 24” NB
  • Ability to work to high tolerance quality specifications to meet Radiography requirements
  • Should have a track record of less than 3% failure rate
  • Proven experience and track record in TIG, MMA, MAG, FCAW and SAW welding
  • Should be able to work to schedules with the minimum supervision
  • Must have been previously coded to ASME/BS EN, there will be completion of   coding to meet company standards
  • Must be able to weld positionally
  • Commitment to working with Oil & Gas
  • A flexible approach to all duties and working hours to achieve completion of contracts outside of normal scope of work

You should have the ability to work to the high quality and safety standards set by our company. The successful applicant will be required for a period from 3rd January 2020 for approximately 6 to 8 months.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working within a manufacturing/Engineering environment using hand tools, electrical tools, small and large band saws, pipe bevelling machines and drills.

Preferred Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience within the industry or within a similar environment is essential
  • Experience with flange assembly and mechanical fitting desirable
  • The candidate must be able to follow instructions in line with supervisor and/or tradesman’s requirements
  • Be self-motivated and organised
  • Have an understanding of Health & Safety
  • Carry out tasks efficiently and to a high standard
  • Assist manufacturing personnel in their daily tasks
  • Have experience of working with electrical hand tools and general fabrication machinery
  • Good time keeping and work ethic
  • Forklift experience would be advantageous

Structural Fabricator

Oil & Gas Systems is seeking an experienced, time served Structural Fabricator to join their production team in Gorseinon. This is a full-time permanent position working a 39 hour week. Candidates should be flexible and self-motivated. You should have the ability to work to the high quality and safety standards set by our company. The successful applicant will be required for a period from 3rd January 2020 for a period of approximately 6 months.

Minimum Candidate Requirements

As a minimum, candidates should have qualifications and previous experience of working within a manufacturing/engineering environment.

Preferred Candidate Requirements:

  1. Previous experience within the industry or within a similar environment is essential
  2. Carry out tasks efficiently and to a high standard
  3. Working with structural steel, plate and beams etc of various sizes
  4. Experienced in manufacturing structural steel components of various sizes and shapes
  5. Experienced in reading engineering drawings
  6. Able to take weld using stick welding equipment
  7. Fully experienced using hand burning equipment
  8. Able to work with the minimum supervision and keep to time schedules
  9. Able to produce a cutting list for components to allow our labourers to cut the items for them

  • Served a recognized apprenticeship within mechanical fitting/assembly
  • Should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in regard assembling and     fitting a wide variety of items

Preferred Candidate Requirements:

Preference will be given to candidates that can show a track record in dealing with the following:

  1. Handling pipe work of various sizes and schedules
  2. Fitting valves into pipe work etc
  3. Fork lift truck operation
  4. Basic crane operation
  5. Handling Structural steel components
  6. Experience in rigging & slinging his/her own equipment safely
  7. Reading isometric drawings
  8. Demonstrate they have an understanding of HSE guidelines in regard the      position
  9. Is able to work on his/her own initiative
  10. Can take the lead on jobs where necessary

Health & Safety Officer

We are seeking a Health & Safety Officer to work with the QHSE Manager to manage and implement health & safety management systems across the business, provide health & safety advice and support across the business and manage operational activities.

Duties include:-

Management Systems Development:

Pro-active development of health & safety management systems across the company, in line with objectives and policy.

Gather data and information from across the business to;

  • Oversee compliance with statutory obligations and the requirements of the International Standard
  • Review arrangements for effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitate process improvement activities as requested by the QHSE Manager

Ensure an annual review of health & safety policies and objectives is held and programmes to implement these objectives are undertaken.

Ensure the scheduling of, and attendance at, management review meetings

Ensure the audit schedule and QHSE action trackers are kept up to date.

Carry out internal health & safety compliance audits as requested by the QHSE Manager.

Act as a company representative during external audits.

Ensure a coherent and accurate system for the provision of, monitoring and control of COSHH risk assessments is in place and communicated appropriately.

Monitoring of health and safety and welfare arrangements through monthly management tours at Denmark House.

Ensure that health & safety training needs are identified to the QHSE Manager.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate detailed technical advice to the QHSE Manager
  • Provide competent health and safety advice to the QHSE Manager, managers and staff.
  • Provide contractor and staff Induction training
  • Undertake accident, incident and near miss investigation
  • Liaise with and advise the Administration Officer to ensure that contractor and building health and safety requirements are being met.
  • Review of contractor risk assessments and method statements
  • Ensure that accurate, meaningful and informative statistics are produced for management review in line with any performance indicators identified.
  • Review the contents of the Risk Matrix
  • Ensure that the Legal Register is kept up to date
  • Undertake periodic risk assessment reviews
  • Ensure that RIDDOR incidents are reported to the HSE
  • Ensure that health surveillance and monitoring is provided for identified employees.
  • Safe System of Work requirements, (Procedures RAMS etc.) are in place
  • Periodic sampling surveys are carried out at Gorseinon and action is taken to ensure legal compliance when appropriate.
  • LOLER Inspections for lifting accessories at OGM and OGS sites.
  • Management system internal and external audit requirements
  • Any other reasonable requests are undertaken to meet business requirements
